A new program to upgrade of the seat cushions in BART’s current fleet has continued this year. There have been additional 115 car orders placed, using MRF 400 foam in the back cushions, with two options for 115 and 58 cars. The resulting weight reduction plus positive comments from the ridership have made this program a success. Included in this fleet change out is the conversion of all seats from textile trim to vinyl trim.
